Mission and Vision
Vision Statement
CAELUM envisions a Catholic Church prepared to accompany astronauts, Guardians, aerospace professionals, chaplains, scientists, engineers, families, and future spacefaring communities with the Gospel, prayer, formation, pastoral care, and the sacraments.
Statement of Fidelity
CAELUM seeks to operate in fidelity to Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, the Roman Pontiff, and the bishops in communion with him.
Its work serves, and does not replace, the teaching, governing, sanctifying, and pastoral responsibilities entrusted by Christ to the Church.
Christian Cooperation
CAELUM is Catholic in identity, leadership, doctrine, and sacramental vision. In Christian charity, it also seeks prayerful dialogue and responsible cooperation with baptized Christians who profess the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed, including members of the Eastern Orthodox Churches and separated Western ecclesial communities.
Such cooperation does not erase real differences of ecclesial authority, doctrine, or sacramental life. CAELUM respects those differences while supporting religious liberty and the spiritual welfare of Christians in isolated and demanding environments.
It does not claim to represent other churches, nor exercise authority over their clergy, ministers, or governance.
Why the Frontier Matters
The Church is universal not because she remains only in Rome, cathedrals, and comfortable parishes, but because she accompanies the human person in danger, exile, work, suffering, and death. She goes because Christ sent her to all nations.
Her missionary history is generations of priests, religious, and laypeople aboard ships, in mining camps, field hospitals, prisons, remote missions, and front-line units. Wherever men and women have gone to work and risk their lives, the Church has sought — slowly, imperfectly, at great cost — to accompany them with the word of God, pastoral care, and the sacraments.
The space domain is becoming another such place. CAELUM does not presume to know what the Church will decide about ministry there. It seeks to ensure the questions are asked carefully, early, and by people formed in both Catholic theology and the realities of aerospace and national-security service.

A Prayer for Those Who Serve in the Heavens
Almighty and eternal God,
Creator of heaven and earth,
look with mercy upon all who travel, labor, serve, and keep watch beyond the familiar bounds of Earth.
Through the intercession of Saint Joseph of Cupertino, protect astronauts, space travelers, researchers, engineers, and all who accept the dangers of flight and exploration.
Through the maternal intercession of Our Lady of Loreto, guide aviators and all who undertake voyages through the skies and the heavens. Preserve them in danger, console those who await their return, and lead every traveler safely home.
Through the intercession of Saint Michael the Archangel, defend chaplains, peacekeepers, Guardians, and all who bear grave responsibility for security in the space domain. Grant them courage without cruelty, strength governed by justice, vigilance joined to humility, and an enduring commitment to peace.
Bless their families, sustain them in isolation, protect them in danger, and keep them faithful to the dignity of every human person.
May every discovery awaken wonder, every achievement inspire gratitude, and every mission remain subject to the truth that the heavens declare your glory.
